The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Boomski Pour Homme joined The Dua Brand's catalog in 2022, part of the Inspired Expression collection. The release belongs to a house whose catalog spans a wide territory of olfactive families, and Boomski fits that range comfortably: a men's woody-aromatic that pulls its weight, concentrated in extrait de parfum form, and built around a short, intentional note list rather than a crowded one. The composition opens with mandarin, rosemary, and saffron, then settles into a base of amyris, cedar, iris, and Venezuelan tonka bean, a structure that values clarity over complexity.
What makes the composition work is the pairing of amyris with cedarwood at the heart. Amyris carries a sweet, almost syrupy woodiness that softens cedar's sharper edges, and together they bridge the bright rosemary-saffron opening and the iris-tonka base. The iris in the base is what surprises, bringing a cool, powdery texture underneath all that warmth, like polished wood after someone has run a hand across it.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all lift, mandarin snapping awake, rosemary cutting through, saffron threading underneath with a quiet, leathery warmth. Then something grounds the whole thing. The amyris and cedar take over around the 30-minute mark, and the scent loses its citrus edges entirely. What replaces them is a dry, slightly sweet woodiness that doesn't demand attention but earns it. By the third hour, the iris starts pulling the composition inward, powdery and cool, while Venezuelan tonka bean rounds the base with a soft, almond-cream warmth. The drydown clings close to skin well into the evening, and on fabric the next morning, the tonka and iris are still there, quieter but unmistakable.
Cultural impact
Since its 2022 release, Boomski Pour Homme has drawn attention for the clarity of its structure, particularly the rosemary-saffron opening that sets up the iris-tonka base waiting in the later passages. Online discussions around the release have highlighted the amyris-cedar pairing as a versatile reference point, a combination that reads cool and dry rather than sweet, and one that translates well across casual and more formal settings without overwhelming the wearer or the room.
