The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Shale Albao built Unravel, HERE as part of Tadhana's Pause collection, released in 2026. The brief was precise: the exact instant when tension leaves the body, when breath deepens without effort, when the grip on the day finally softens. That idea of release, of everything held tight finally letting go, runs underneath every choice in the composition. Albao approached the fragrance as a study in the architecture of settling, using familiar green and earthy materials to map the physical sensation of unwinding. The Pause collection gathers compositions built around quiet transitions, moments of shift, and Unravel, HERE sits at the center of that concept.
What makes this composition interesting is its restraint. Geosmin anchors the base alongside moss and patchouli. That's unusual: rather than using the damp note as a fleeting effect in the opening, here it waits, arrives late, and stays. That delay reshapes the entire reading of the fragrance, because the brain keeps expecting the rain to come and it keeps not coming, until the earth itself answers instead. The rice accord in the heart grounds the white floral jasmine with something starchy and human, the way a bowl of warm rice smells after the kitchen window fogs.
The evolution
The first spray is bright and almost herbal, petitgrain leading with neroli close behind, a green-citrus tension that feels like the air just before a storm breaks. Juniper arrives in streaks, cutting clean. Ten minutes in, the rain accord settles. Jasmine opens its mouth slowly, not loud, not a declaration, more like a window cracked open in a warm room. Rice hums underneath, starchy and grounded. The green of the opening doesn't vanish so much as absorb into something denser. After the first hour, the base arrives. Geosmin is the tell. That's warm earth after heavy rain, the mineral breath of soil drinking water. It deepens without becoming heavy. Patchouli and moss settle beneath it, suggesting forest floor more than garden. The drydown becomes increasingly intimate, the sillage contracting as the composition settles into skin.
Cultural impact
The Pause collection reframes what a grounding fragrance can be, moving away from the heavy oud-and-amber model and toward something lighter, greener, and more emotionally precise. Unravel, HERE anchors that shift, offering a composition that feels rooted in everyday moments rather than in luxury signifiers. The approach speaks to a growing audience interested in fragrances that read as personal and atmospheric rather than as performance, scents that sit close to the skin and reward the wearer more than the room.
