Why it exists.
The beginning
Mixed Feeling launched in 2021 as part of Tabbeau Place's growing collection, a fragrance built by Onyi Ifeguni. The name is a thesis: a composition that refuses to settle into a single mood. Ifeguni built the fragrance around a tension most flankers avoid, fruity brightness crashing into something muskier, more grounded, more deliberate. It wears the contradictions openly. Tropical on the surface, something else entirely underneath, the scent resists any quick read. Mixed Feeling doesn't resolve its contradictions. It just lets them breathe next to each other, and the result is a composition that shifts depending on where you catch it.
What makes Mixed Feeling worth attention is the unusual stacking of pineapple and saffron in the opening. The pineapple is sharper, more acidic than you'd expect, hitting with a green-edged tartness rather than anything sugary or syrupy. The saffron does the heavy lifting to keep it from reading juvenile, threading a warm, leathery spice through the fruit and giving it weight from the very first moment. The middle layer is where it gets genuinely interesting.
The evolution
On skin, Mixed Feeling moves faster than you'd expect from something this sweet-sounding. The opening belongs entirely to pineapple and bergamot, loud, almost fizzy, with the saffron lurking underneath like a bassline you can feel before you hear it. The fruit character dominates early, bright and sharp, with the citrus oils adding a sparkling quality that makes the composition feel almost effervescent for the first few minutes. As the minutes pass, the jasmine and vanilla begin to take over, and the Ambroxan starts doing its work, amplifying the skin's warmth so the scent feels less like something you applied and more like something emanating from you. The Ambroxan here acts almost like a magnifier, taking whatever warmth your skin naturally produces and broadcasting it back through the composition.

Mixed Feeling occupies an unusual spot in the broader fragrance landscape, leaning tropical on the surface but refusing to stay there. Within Tabbeau Place's lineup, it's the one that leans furthest from convention, equal parts fruit and musk, sweetness and earth. Wearers tend to describe it as a mood-changer, something that reads completely different at hour one versus hour four, which makes it a favorite for people who get restless with linear fragrances that stay locked on a single note pyramid from open to close.
