The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Jade Lake draws from a landscape most perfumes skip past entirely: a quiet, life-bearing pocket inside the Gobi, where unexpected clusters of green grapes and scattered salt crystals break through the arid surroundings. Soulvent built the composition around that contrast, sunlit dryness interrupted by small moments of moisture and vitality. Bergamot and freshly cut grass open the scene crisp and breezy. Then green grape arrives with a translucent sweetness, joined by jasmine sambac and a cool thread of mint that softens the whole frame. Cedarwood and musk ground it without weight, the way clean stone holds the last warmth of the day.
What makes Jade Lake interesting isn't a single rare material. It's the tension between the arid impression and the vivid life inside it. Bergamot and cut grass build the dryness. Green grape, jasmine sambac, and mint cut through it with fruit, floral softness, and herbal cool. Chinese cedarwood and a clean musk base hold the composition together without pulling it toward the woody or animalic. The result is a green-fruity composition that manages to feel both sun-bright and quietly wet, the olfactory equivalent of stepping from hot sand into a cold spring.
The evolution
On skin, the grass and bergamot hit immediately and hold attention for the first 15 minutes, sharp and almost cologne-like in their clarity. The green grape slides in around the 20-minute mark, softening the citrus without burying it, and the jasmine sambac adds a clean white-floral hum that reads more like sunlight on linen than perfume. Mint stays cool throughout, never disappearing, lending a mentholated breeze that keeps the whole thing lifted. The drydown shifts noticeably by hour three: the cedar takes over, warm and slightly dry, and the musk settles in close, giving it that familiar post-laundry softness. By hour five the grass is long gone, the grape has turned into a faint green-fruit memory, and what's left is a clean woody-musky skin scent, close to the body, with just enough sweetness clinging to the jasmine. It doesn't project much past arm's length in the late hours, which makes the drydown feel private, a quiet finish to something that started loud.
Cultural impact
Jade Lake, a 2026 release from Soulvent, is part of the brand's MOMENT collection, which also includes Northern and Snowy Khata, signalling a sustained creative direction built around titled scenes and atmospheric intent. The fragrance draws explicitly on a Gobi landscape, letting that arid, mineral sense of place shape the composition rather than leaning on conventional category cues. Notes that evoke dry heat, wind-worn stone, and sparse vegetation sit at the core, with the opening carrying a brighter, almost sun-bleached lift before settling into a drier, more grounded base as the hours pass.
