The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Good Life arrived in 2019 as a composition from Rêveur, a fragrance house whose name translates from the French. The scent reads as a daydream you can actually wear, not a fantasy you have to translate into something wearable. Its brand description paints it as 'energetic, refreshing and fun,' and the bottle is positioned as an invitation to inhabit the present moment rather than chase something further away. The opening is bright and green, with leafy herbaceous notes that lift off the skin quickly and make room for a softer herbal warmth underneath. As the top notes recede, a clean, slightly sweet aromatic core takes hold, built around lavender and a touch of rosemary that keeps the whole composition feeling awake.
The structure is what makes Good Life interesting: a traditionally fougère-adjacent trio (mint, lavender, vetiver) is paired with a warm-spiced heart (freesia, nutmeg, orange blossom) that most aromatic compositions wouldn't risk. That nutmeg-orange blossom marriage gives the lavender something to lean against, so the green doesn't go sharp or soapy the way it can in cleaner fougère builds. The result reads more 'garden in late afternoon' than 'barbershop at noon.'
The evolution
The first 20 minutes belong to the mint and lavender, cool and aromatic, almost bracing, with the vetiver threading underneath like a low green hum. Then the nutmeg surfaces, warm and slightly sweet, carrying freesia and orange blossom into the mid-phase, where the composition gets genuinely soft, a powdery floral warmth that feels more skin-like than anything that came before it. The patchouli enters around the 2-3 hour mark, grounding the whole arc in something darker and earthier, while the tonka bean sweetens the edge and the white musk pulls everything close. By the 6-hour mark, the mint and lavender are gone, the florals have faded, and what remains is that patchouli-tonka-musk trio, warm, a little resinous, the smell of fabric that has held a body through a long day.
Cultural impact
Good Life is one of the compositions from Rêveur's 2019 catalog, a year that established the brand's early identity across several distinct fragrances. Among those releases, Good Life carries a particularly bright, approachable character, with an aromatic-green structure that feels easy to wear in casual settings. The opening leans into a clean herbal freshness, built around lavender and supporting green notes that come across as airy rather than dense.
