Why it exists.
The beginning
The Oud Caravan, released in 2023, sets two distinct oud traditions side by side and lets the rest of the composition orbit around them. Thai oud and Cambodian oud meet in the same bottle, and nothing about that pairing feels accidental. Rasei Fort built the structure to hold both voices at once, with spice, resin, and florals arranged so neither tradition overpowers the other. The opening carries clove, pepper, and saffron, a heat that reads warm and almost architectural before the ouds take over. Rose arrives early, threaded through leather and patchouli in a way that adds texture rather than sweetness. Frankincense lifts the whole composition slightly off the ground, and a tea note keeps the richness honest.
What makes this composition work is the refusal to pick a side. The Oud Caravan treats both oud traditions as equals, and that balance shows up everywhere else in the structure. That saffron note does heavy lifting here, bridging the rose heart with the benzoin and frankincense in the base, adding a slightly bitter edge that keeps the sweetness honest.
