Why it exists.
The beginning
Arturetto Landi built Profumi d'Art with a house identity that reads as Italian creativity paired with German craftsmanship. The numbered Art series became his working format, each release treated as an exercise in composition. Art 08 Muschio di Liatride arrived as one of the releases in that series, named for liatris, a botanical musk given the lead. The opening leans into fruit sweetness, and the base settles into something older and quieter. The collaboration with Armaf extended the line's reach.
Liatris spicata, the marsh blazing star, isn't a common perfumery material, and anchoring a composition on a named botanical musk is a deliberate choice. Pairing that with strawberry and cardamom at the opening, then iris and jasmine through the heart, creates a structure that moves from playful sweetness into powdery softness. The accords confirm the intent: warm spicy, powdery, creamy, with synthetic sweetness kept in check by sandalwood and musk underneath.
The evolution
The first minutes are loud. Strawberry and apple arrive together, bright and jammy, with cardamom cutting through like a spark. It reads almost like a sugared fruit candy, the kind that leaves a faint chemical sweetness on your fingers. Five minutes in, the powder begins. Iris settles in alongside a soft jasmine, and the fruit starts to recede rather than disappear. Rose threads through quietly, barely there but doing structural work. By the thirty-minute mark the composition has shifted into something warmer and more rounded. Liatris takes over, giving a clean, almost linen-like muskiness that has none of the harshness of standard synthetic musks. Sandalwood underneath adds a faint creaminess.
Cultural impact
Art 08 sits within Profumi d'Art's collaboration with Armaf. The fragrance leans comfort-leaning and wears well in transitional weather, drawing attention for its use of liatris as a named base material rather than a generic musk template. It reads as sweetness with structure underneath, finding listeners who respond to that balance of playful fruit and grounded powder.
