A house, in its own words
Arturetto Landi was born in the coastal town of Lerici, Italy. After completing secondary studies, he travelled to England for a brief period before beginning a formal apprenticeship in Germany in 1976. The four‑year program culminated in his qualification as a perfumer in 1980, a milestone documented by multiple industry profiles. Landi’s early career combined the precision of a chemist with the intuition of a nose, a duality that later defined his brand ethos. By the early 2010s he returned to Italy and, leveraging his cross‑border experience, established Profumi d'Art. The first public releases appeared in 2014 under a numbered series: Art 01 Acqua Mia, Art 04 Il Solo E l'Unico Legno, Art 06 Esotico Assoluto, Art 07 Rosa del Deserto, and Art 03 Legni Dolci Bruciati. These launches signaled a commitment to unfiltered, hand‑blended compositions. In 2017 the house expanded its palette with Art 08 Muschio di Liatride and Art 09 Karo Karounde, reinforcing a reputation for exploring both fresh and resinous territories. A notable partnership emerged in 2019 when Profumi d'Art co‑created a collection with Arabian fragrance house Armaf, merging Mediterranean and Middle Eastern scent vocabularies. The brand continued its numbered releases in 2022 with Art 11 Acqua Tua, Art 12 Per Me Ma, and Art 13 E Tanta Roba, each reflecting an evolution of Landi’s artistic narrative. Throughout its history, Profumi d'Art has remained a boutique operation, producing limited quantities and maintaining a direct link between the creator’s laboratory and the consumer’s experience.
The creative vision of Profumi d'Art rests on the idea that scent can function as a visual medium. Landi describes his work as a dialogue between art and chemistry, where each ingredient is chosen for its narrative potential as well as its technical quality. The brand’s statements emphasize unfiltered composition, meaning that the perfumer’s hand remains present throughout blending, without reliance on extensive post‑production alteration. Hand‑blending in small batches allows the creator to monitor the evolution of the mixture, preserving the intended character. Sustainability is approached pragmatically; ingredients are sourced from established suppliers with documented traceability, and waste is minimized through precise measurement. The label also values transparency, offering consumers insight into the ingredient families that shape each fragrance. Rather than chasing market trends, Profumi d'Art follows a seasonal rhythm dictated by the perfumer’s inspiration, resulting in releases that feel like personal chapters in an ongoing artistic story.
