Why it exists.
The beginning
Perspective is one of several fragrances from Pictor Parfum, a house that draws on photography for its conceptual framework. The brand's naming convention, including Perspective, Silhouette, Flash, and Airbrush, borrows directly from visual terminology, treating each composition as a frozen moment rather than a geographic reference or portrait. Tristan Badard composed Perspective as a study in shifting vantage points, working from a Fragrantica description that references "different viewing points, switching angles and positions, near and far, scale and depth, transforming 2D to 3D." That conceptual scaffolding shaped a composition built almost entirely from resins and aromatics, materials that behave differently depending on where you stand relative to them.
What makes Perspective structurally interesting is its refusal to anchor itself in any single family. The listed materials, frankincense, oregano, styrax, birch, juniper berry, myrrh, benzoin, cashmere wood, vetiver, pull simultaneously toward incense, aromatic herbalism, and dry wood. The oregano is the wildcard. It reads as medicinal and green at first contact, then folds into the resinous architecture as if it belonged there all along. Where you might expect a straight incense composition, the oregano disrupts the expectation, pulling the whole structure sideways.
The evolution
The opening is dominated by frankincense and styrax, both listed at the top, though they arrive with oregano's sharp, almost pharmaceutical green cutting across them. It reads cold. Bright. Closer to a church threshold than a perfume counter. As the composition moves past its first phase, birch and juniper berry push forward, and the oregano recedes into a herbal smoke that feels less like an herb garden and more like the ghost of one after a frost. Myrrh thickens the middle, giving the composition a low, humming weight that makes everything around it feel warmer. The drydown is where benzoin, cashmere wood, and vetiver do their quiet work. The resins don't vanish. They settle, turn golden, and pick up a soft woody sweetness that sits close to the skin. The base notes carry the final stretch as an intimate, dry warmth that clings to fabric.

Perspective's incense-forward profile gives it a distinctive character within niche perfumery, built on a foundation of frankincense, styrax, myrrh, and benzoin layered with aromatic materials like oregano, birch, and juniper berry.
