The brief was to honor vanilla's appeal while avoiding the heavy, synthetic sweetness that has plagued the note for decades. Epinette selected bourbon vanilla for its depth and natural complexity, then built supporting layers that would keep the composition feeling fresh and modern rather than nostalgic.
The cherry note serves as the entry point precisely because it keeps the opening feeling modern and non-gourmand.
