The beginning
Nudesse is part of Overose's growing catalogue of personal fragrances. The rose composition centers on Damask rose and Rosa centifolia paired with a rain accord, a combination that strips the usual floral scaffolding away and leaves something closer to a petal caught in weather. The brand's own framing calls it their most iconic rose creation, capturing the in-between: rain and sun, tenderness and stillness, nature doing what nature does without anyone asking for permission. What makes it unusual is what the composition refuses to add. There's no heavy base anchoring the florals, no gourmand sweetness rounding them out, no spicy lift to create distance between the rose and the skin.
The unusual choice here is restraint. Damask rose and May rose are the conventional heart of a thousand floral compositions, but pairing them with a rain accord and nothing else is a deliberate risk. What stays is the petal and the weather around it. The rain accord does work most floral bases do: it adds dimension, here the metallic cool of petrichor and the softness of humid air. The result reads as a single ingredient with depth rather than a constructed pyramid. The two rose varieties carry different weights throughout the wear, and the rain accord shifts between them like a changing sky.
The evolution
On skin, Nudesse opens with a clean lift, the rain accord giving the rose an almost mineral chill, like stepping out of warm air into a cool corridor. The first 30 minutes are the most surprising: where most rose perfumes arrive cushioned by something warmer, this one breathes cold and aqueous, the Damask rose reading almost like it's been pressed between wet pages. As the chill recedes, the May rose rounds it out, adding a slightly honeyed softness that takes over around the 2-hour mark. Instead the composition simply deepens in place, the rain note becoming less literal, more like the memory of humidity on skin. What lasts past the 4-hour mark is a close, intimate rose, faint enough that catching it requires leaning in. On fabric the next morning: faded petals and something almost like clean linen.
