The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Perfumer Nadège Le Garlantezec designed Imagination for Oriflame in 2014. The scent centers on pear blossom, that softer, more ephemeral bloom rather than the sharp bite of pear fruit. Water lily and pink pepper follow, creating a fragrance that opens with crisp, dewy freshness and drifts into a delicate floral heart. The composition feels light and airy, with sweetness that never overwhelms, lingering close to the skin in a quiet, persistent way that invites rather than demands attention.
What makes Imagination work is the restraint baked into every layer. The pink pepper doesn't sting, it lifts, adding a barely-there spice that stops the pear from becoming candied. Violet leaf brings that petrichor quality, the smell of rain on pavement, which grounds the florals in something real rather than purely decorative. Water lily and rose in the heart create an aquatic-floral combination that avoids the generic by keeping both elements light and transparent. Cashmeran in the base acts as a cushion rather than a foundation, soft, velvety, and weightless. The whole composition is built on negative space. It's a fragrance that earns its appeal by knowing when to disappear.
The evolution
The opening arrives like a cool breeze, pink pepper and violet leaf creating immediate freshness, something crisp and dewy that reads as clean without being soapy. Within minutes, the pear blossom takes over, sweeter but still airy, the transition smooth and unforced. Water lily and rose drift together in that aquatic-floral territory, neither overwhelming the other, creating a luminous middle phase where the floral notes shimmer with a subtle aquatic quality. Cashmeran and musk extend the wear, adding a soft warmth that settles close to the skin as the fragrance evolves through its final hours.
Cultural impact
Imagination occupies a different space in the market. It's a light, transparent floral that works quietly rather than loudly, designed to complement rather than command attention. The composition focuses on pear blossom and aquatic florals, creating something that feels approachable and easy to live with daily.
