The beginning
Egeo Cogu Mellow arrived in 2025 as a limited release from O Boticário. The Egeo line carries a reputation for playing in more experimental territory within the catalogue, and Cogu Mellow pushes further than most entries in the range. Perfumer Leslie Gauthier built the composition around a single unusual choice: Boletus edulis mushroom, sourced from Chinese origins. It's a material that almost never appears in gourmand-leaning fragrances. Gauthier paired it with pear smoothie, pepper, candied rose, and cinnamon liquor, then grounded the whole thing in vanilla and almond. The result sits somewhere between forest floor and dessert course, a contradiction that somehow reads as cohesive rather than chaotic.
What makes the composition genuinely unusual isn't any single ingredient but the collision between them. Mushroom accords are earthy, damp, almost mineral, while pear smoothie is bright and almost edible in a fruit-forward way. Gauthier didn't smooth the contrast. The pepper at the top sharpens everything before the cinnamon liquor arrives with its boozy warmth, and candied rose adds a soft sweetness that reads more confection than fresh-cut flower. Then vanilla pulls the drydown into something genuinely comforting.
The evolution

The mushroom is still detectable if you press your nose to the skin, but it's no longer the headline.
