The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
New Notes launched Latte di Cherry in 2023 as a statement that cherry belongs to no single gender. Perfumers Peacemaker and Dänibänäni built the composition around a deliberate tension: bright, sparkling fruit at the opening and a warm, enveloping base that lets the cherry breathe without fading. The Italian niche house has built its identity on refusing the masculine-feminine split entirely, and this fragrance carries that philosophy in every layer. Cherry takes center stage here, red and vivid, with almond lending a lactonic creaminess that distinguishes it from sharper cherry fragrances.
The note philosophy behind Latte di Cherry centers on contrast: fruit that shines without overwhelming, florals that support rather than compete, and a base that feels like a soft landing rather than an afterthought. Almond in the opening serves a specific purpose, it brings creaminess that turns cherry from sharp to rounded. The spicy notes in the heart are intentionally restrained, a whisper rather than a shout, meant to add intrigue without dominating the composition. In the drydown, the combination of tonka bean, vanilla, and sandalwood creates what the perfumers described as a velvet base, something that feels comforting against the skin long after the top notes have receded.
The evolution
The opening sweeps in with cherry and almond, a duo that feels almost edible in its immediacy. Orange cuts through with a citrusy brightness that prevents the blend from becoming cloying. As minutes pass, the heart opens with rose and jasmine, their petals unfurling slowly against the backdrop of spicy notes that add an unexpected depth. The transition feels natural rather than sudden. By the drydown, the composition has softened considerably: musk wraps the skin, tonka bean and vanilla introduce a sweetness that reads as cozy rather than saccharine, and amber, sandalwood, and vetiver anchor the scent in warmth that can be detected hours later on fabric and skin.
Cultural impact
Cherry fragrances have settled into familiar patterns, fruity-fresh at one end, dark-animalic at another. Latte di Cherry goes elsewhere entirely. It occupies the lactonic, milk-adjacent space that takes more work to execute well. The almond gives it a marzipan edge that lifts it above the usual fruity territory. It's sweet in a way that feels deliberate, not an accident. This is the cherry fragrance for people who wanted something with real depth.
