The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Embrace opens with bright citrus, bergamot and mandarin lifting the senses before sesame enters the frame. The warm, nutty quality of sesame anchors the composition while honey and vanilla build the heart, creating a layered sweetness that unfolds gradually. As the fragrance develops, the drydown emerges slowly, the honey receding to let vanilla take center stage, its creaminess softened by the woody presence of vetiver and cedarwood. The scent lingers, evolving on the skin like a conversation that changes tone over time, never abrupt, always intentional.
The top notes create a bright, sparkling entrance, bergamot and mandarin arrive clean and alive, but the sesame is present from the start, lending a nutty warmth that keeps the citrus from being merely refreshing. This is not a fragrance that opens one way and becomes something else entirely. The sesame threads through. The heart is where the fragrance becomes itself: honey and coffee absolute together, sweet and roasted, each tempering the other. Honey could skew medicinal. Coffee could turn bitter. Here they balance into something you want to keep smelling.
The evolution
The drydown arrives gradually, no sudden drop, just a slow softening as the honey recedes and the vanilla rises. Madagascar vanilla brings creaminess, but the Haitian vetiver and Virginia cedarwood keep it grounded. Earthy, slightly smoky, with a woody base that prevents the whole thing from floating away. The drydown settles close to the skin, the sweetness tempered by the earthy depth beneath. What lingers is the vanilla, creamy and warm, held in place by the vetiver and cedarwood that form the foundation.
Cultural impact
Sesame brings a roasted, almost nutty quality that gives The Embrace a distinctive edge, differentiating it from typical Western gourmand fragrances. The note provides an earthy depth that contrasts with the brighter citrus at the opening, creating a fragrance that shifts between warm and crisp as it develops. This interplay between the nutty sesame and the sparkling citrus creates complexity, a balance that keeps the composition from settling into predictability.
