Cocoa Beans arrived in 2024 as part of Monotheme Venezia's Natural collection. The line relies on a monothematic approach, a single ingredient carrying the composition without competition from supporting notes, and Cocoa Beans takes that idea into gourmand territory, which is riskier ground for a minimal structure. Sweet compositions usually pile on for reassurance, so trusting the raw material to speak for itself is a deliberate choice. The fragrance is blended, aged, and sealed into clear glass bottles, letting the liquid itself show through without ornamentation or distraction. That visual honesty mirrors the scent itself, a single botanical note given room to breathe rather than buried beneath a crowded pyramid of accords.
What makes the composition worth a second look is the restraint around the cocoa itself. Pear and pink pepper open the door, bright and a little biting, before the cocoa arrives roasted and unsweetened rather than sugared.
