The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Liberty doesn't whisper. The name itself is a claim, a hashtag shouting the idea into a bottle. Mirada released Hashtag Liberty in 2021, and the fragrance was built to feel like a declaration rather than a suggestion, anchored in the kind of florals that have always meant freedom in perfumery: orange blossom, jasmine, lavender, a current of citrus running underneath to keep the whole thing awake. The opening arrives sharp and bright, with petitgrain lending a green, slightly bitter edge that keeps the citrus from collapsing into something syrupy. Blackcurrant adds a tart, ribena-ish sweetness that feels generous without crossing into candy territory.
The structure doesn't behave the way most linear florals do. Lavender appears in both the top and heart, which means it doesn't fade politely. It bridges the opening and the middle, stitching the bright citrus-fruit burst of blackcurrant and orange directly into the orange blossom and jasmine heart without a seam. The base then catches everything in ambergris, vanilla, cedar, and musk. The drydown has that warm, second-skin quality, the kind of finish where you stop noticing the perfume and start noticing the warmth of your own skin.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes belong to blackcurrant and orange, sharp and almost edible, lifted by lavender and that green snap of petitgrain. The fruit dissolves fast. By the half-hour mark, orange blossom and jasmine have taken over, and the lavender is still there underneath, holding the whole thing together like a spine. The florals stay prominent for another hour or two, but the warmth starts creeping in. Vanilla arrives quietly, then ambergris, then cedar, and the musk gathers everything into skin. What remains after the four-hour mark is a soft, warm, slightly sweet drydown that reads as body heat more than fragrance. It doesn't project much past the collar by then, but it doesn't disappear either. The next morning, the bottle cap smells better than the skin does: ambergris and vanilla, sweet and a little animal.
Cultural impact
Hashtag Liberty arrived in 2021 with a premise written into its name: that scent can carry the weight of an idea, not just a season. The fragrance opens with a burst of fruit and light, citrus and blackcurrant playing across the top before the white florals arrive to claim the middle of the composition. Orange blossom, jasmine, and lavender form the core of the heart, and they bloom in the order you'd expect: orange blossom first, sunny and honeyed, then jasmine trailing in with its slightly animal edge, and lavender threading through both, cooling everything down and keeping the florals from getting too sweet.
