The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Extreme Gentleman joined the Mirada line in 2024, introducing a coastal-leaning masculine composition built around contrasts that feel quietly intentional. The release pulls from opposite ends of the spectrum, embracing a clean, salt-tinged energy that feels at home anywhere a confident man might end up after five o'clock. The composition draws from two very different territories. Bright citrus and marine notes meet darker, earthier materials like guaiac wood, patchouli, and oakmoss. The tension between those poles gives the fragrance its character, a push and pull between salty brightness and grounded depth. The opening reads almost like sea air filtered through something resinous, while the base carries the warmth of weathered wood drying out in late sun.
What makes the structure interesting is how the aromatic green of bay leaf anchors the middle. It acts as a bridge between the aquatic brightness above and the smoky, resinous base below, adding a savory herbal quality that keeps the fragrance from tipping into either pure freshness or pure darkness. There is something almost culinary about that bay leaf, a leafy bitterness that grounds the lighter top notes before they drift away entirely. Jasmine is the quiet wildcard, a touch of white floral warmth that softens the edges without ever announcing itself.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are sharp and almost aquatic, with lime and grapefruit slicing through alongside mandarin's softer sweetness. The marine accord adds a cool, briny edge that reads as ocean spray rather than synthetic. This is the most extroverted phase, the one that gets noticed across a table, and it carries an almost effervescent lift before things begin to soften. The citrus feels alive here, zest rather than juice, with a clean transparency that lets the marine notes sparkle through instead of muddling them. After about 30 minutes, the citrus pulls back and bay leaf steps forward. There's a green, almost peppery quality here, the kind of aromatic sharpness that makes the fragrance feel herbaceous and intentional. Jasmine hovers just underneath, adding a soft warmth that keeps the composition from feeling too sharp or austere.
Cultural impact
Within Mirada's growing catalogue, Extreme Gentleman occupies a specific lane. The release leans into a kind of clean, versatile energy that translates easily from desk to dinner, holding its composure through long afternoons and early evenings alike. It's the sort of fragrance that works just as well under a collar as it does with a rolled sleeve, and that ease of placement is part of what makes it quietly appealing. The composition is approachable without being basic, offering an aromatic-woody profile that reads as polished without demanding attention.
