Heritage
A house, in its own words
Lyn Harris, a British perfumer who trained for five years in France, launched Miller Harris in 2000 with the intention of giving perfumers full artistic freedom. The brand’s first public offering arrived in 2002, positioning the house as a boutique alternative to larger houses. In 2008 Miller Harris released Cologne 1888, a citrus‑spicy composition that quickly became a reference point for modern British colognes. The La Fumee series followed, beginning with La Fumee in 2011 and expanding to La Fumee Arabie (2012) and La Fumee Ottoman (2013). These fragrances explored historic incense traditions while maintaining a contemporary sensibility. 2013 also saw the launch of Verger, a green, orchard‑inspired scent that highlighted the brand’s interest in naturalistic narratives. After a period of steady growth, Miller Harris introduced Legato in 2025, a fragrance created in partnership with a fashion label to celebrate movement and rhythm. The most recent addition, Tea Tonique Extrait (2026), uses high‑grade tea extracts to capture the ritual of afternoon tea. Throughout its history, Miller Harris has remained independent, operating from a small studio in London where the founder still oversees creative direction. Miller Harris treats perfume as a form of storytelling. The house believes that a scent should convey a clear scene, whether it is a London garden, a historic market or a quiet tea ceremony. Creative freedom sits at the core of the brand; perfumers are invited to develop ideas without commercial constraints. The company values transparency, sourcing ingredients that can be traced to their origin and favouring natural extracts when possible. Sustainability informs decisions, from ingredient selection to packaging, reflecting a belief that luxury can coexist with responsibility. The brand also encourages consumers to view fragrance as a personal ritual rather than a fleeting trend, inviting them to build a scent library that evolves over time.
