The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sirio takes its name from Sirius, the brightest star visible from Earth. Mendittorosa chose it deliberately, not just for the celestial light, but for what that star has meant across cultures: a fixed point in the sky that offers guidance and wonder. The brand describes it as 'the secret destination of an enchanted path,' ascending from garden to stars. This isn't a metaphor; it's the actual structure of the fragrance. Amélie Bourgeois built a path upward, starting with the earthy brightness of rhubarb and apple before the florals bloom and the woods ground everything at the end. The opening feels crisp and tart, the apple bright and almost effervescent, while the rhubarb adds a vegetal edge that keeps things from becoming too sweet.
What makes Sirio unusual is the way its pyramid inverts expectations. The rhubarb and apple stay present throughout much of the wear, creating a tart through-line that connects opening to drydown. The white musk amplifies this effect, binding the bright fruit to the florals and woods rather than letting them fragment into separate phases. It's a composition that rewards patience, revealing itself in layers instead of a single impression.
The evolution
The opening arrives crisp and tart, apple and rhubarb with real bite. For the first moments, it's almost effervescent, like biting into a green apple and immediately catching the sour aftertaste. Then the florals arrive, not replacing the fruit but folding into it. Rose and peony create a lush middle, softened by plum into something that feels almost edible. The transition surprises because it happens fast, the sharp green becomes plush almost before you register the change. Then the base begins its slow reveal: cashmeran wrapping around the florals while vanilla, oud, and guaiac wood settle in as the true foundation. The oud here isn't aggressive or barn-like, it's been tamed by the creaminess of cashmeran and vanilla into something meditative rather than confrontational. By the end of the wear, the florals have faded but the woody-gourmand base remains, intimate and close to the skin.
Cultural impact
Sirio's moderate sillage and intimate drydown suit the brand's philosophy that a fragrance works best for the wearer, not the room. The Talismans Collection positions each scent as a personal artifact rather than a statement piece, and Sirio fits this vision. It's the kind of fragrance that makes someone standing beside you lean in to ask what you're wearing.
