The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Grasse N°10 arrived in 2021 as part of Mango's A Mediterranean Journey collection, a series of fragrances the brand released together as a group. The collection treated fragrance as postcards from places the wearer might never visit, each bottle its own small dispatch. The intent reads clear from the pyramid: take the brightness of a sun-soaked afternoon, add the grounding warmth of amber and wood, and let the whole thing feel like a holiday that never quite ends. The opening hits with pineapple right away, a juicy and slightly acidic fruit note that feels lifted by a green freshness rather than any candied sweetness. There's a sparkle to it that suggests citrus without naming any specific fruit, almost the scent of condensation on a cold glass on a warm day.
What makes the composition worth a second look is the deliberate friction between tropical fruit and dense, earthy base materials. Pineapple on top is an obvious crowd-pleaser, but pairing it with patchouli in the heart and ambergris underneath gives the juice something to push against. The rose and jasmine keep the florals from going soapy, acting more as texture than statement. Most pineapple fragrances lean fully into the fruit and call it a day. This one threads the fruit through a base of musk, vanilla, and woody notes that stop it from smelling like a cocktail garnish. The result holds shape on skin rather than dissolving into sugar.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes belong almost entirely to the pineapple, bright and slightly tart, with just enough acidity to feel alive rather than syrupy. There's a green quality running underneath it, something almost herbal that keeps the fruit from tipping into candy territory, and a sparkling lift that suggests citrus zest without naming any one fruit. Around the 30-minute mark, the fruit recedes enough for jasmine and rose to surface, cushioned by patchouli that adds a faint earthiness under the petals. The jasmine reads more as soft white soap than as a heady indolic bloom, while the rose stays in the background, lending a gentle warmth rather than any overt floral declaration. The florals never go heavy. They hover, suspended between the bright top and the deeper base.
Cultural impact
Grasse N°10 sits in an interesting corner of the market, a fragrance from a fashion brand rather than a traditional perfume house, which gives it a different kind of presence on the shelf. It belongs to Mango's Mediterranean Journey collection, and that grouping matters: the fragrance reads as part of a set, a numbered piece of a larger story rather than a standalone release. The pineapple note up top is the first thing people notice, juicy and slightly tart, with enough lift to feel alive on skin rather than flat or syrupy.
