Why it exists.
The beginning
My Dream Passion arrived in 2024, the work of perfumer Emna Doghri. It sits within the Louis Varel portfolio, a house that focuses on compositions made for everyday wear rather than archival complexity. The scent takes its name from the My Dream lineage and turns that softness into something warmer and more gourmand, a deliberate pivot toward edible comfort. The base carries the weight here. White wood, amber, and musk form a close, skin-bound architecture that lingers without announcing itself. Up top, the composition opens with crisp apple, tart blackcurrant, and the bright squeeze of mandarin, rounded by bergamot's clean citrus edge. The heart layers ylang ylang, geranium, patchouli, and cedar essence into something floral without ever tipping into the soapy or the old-fashioned.
What separates this from a standard fruity-floral is the base architecture. White wood as an anchor is an unusual choice in a composition this bright on top, and pairing it with amber rather than the more expected sugary sweetness gives the drydown a warm, almost resinous glow. Musk underneath wraps the composition in a skin-like softness that prevents the opening from dissolving into something too simple.
