The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The perfumers Fabienne Coupaye, Fanny Grau, and Isaac Sinclair came together in 2016 to create something that lived between moments. The name Liasson Temps reflects this intention. L'Bel, a Peruvian brand operating through a direct sales model across Latin America, has released fragrances across a range of styles. The result is a fragrance that feels like a specific hour rather than a specific person. The composition opens with bright citrus and sparkling pink grapefruit zest before settling into a warm floral heart. White florals take center stage, cherry blossom brings delicacy, frangipani adds tropical warmth, and gardenia contributes richness. May rose and a tea accord provide structure while keeping the heart from becoming heavy.
What makes this composition interesting is the tension between its opening and its base. The Kir Royal note gives the top a sparkling quality. It's immediately followed by pink grapefruit zest, which keeps things clean and bright. But the heart is where the warmth builds. Cherry blossom, frangipani, and gardenia are all white florals with varying weights: cherry blossom is delicate and fleeting, frangipani is creamy and tropical, gardenia is rich and slightly indolic. They're held together by May rose and a tea accord that adds structure to the composition.
The evolution
The opening hits quickly. Pink grapefruit zest with the blackcurrant sparkle of Kir Royal, bright and effervescent, before the florals begin to assert themselves. The hand-off is smooth. Cherry blossom arrives first, the most delicate of the white florals, followed by frangipani's tropical creaminess and gardenia's richness. The tea accord keeps the heart from becoming too heavy, adding a clean counterpoint that grounds the florals. By the time the base takes over, the florals have softened and receded. Australian sandalwood provides warmth and creaminess, Virginia cedar adds a dry, woody quality, and candied violet threads through the entire composition with a powdery sweetness that lingers. This is where Liasson Temps becomes itself. The base notes remain close to the skin while the scent continues to develop subtly over hours.
Cultural impact
Liasson Temps occupies a particular space in the L'Bel lineup. Where other L'Bel releases have pushed toward bold, statement-making compositions, this one takes a different approach. The powdery violet and sandalwood drydown offers a different kind of appeal for those who prefer intimate florals to powerhouse compositions, a quieter corner of the Latin American fragrance market that offers an alternative to the bold orientals. The fragrance invites discovery for those seeking something more personal.
