The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Urban Green arrives in 2026 as part of the Karl Lagerfeld Jeans line, the brand's more casual offering. The scent was composed by Emilie Bevierre-Coppermann, with Pierre-Constantin Guéros credited alongside. The result is a streamlined composition built around three notes, citron on top, white lavender in the heart, and tonka bean absolute at the base. Each ingredient is given room to speak for itself, and the overall effect is clean, focused, and easy to wear from the first spray onward.
What makes Urban Green worth attention is its restraint. Three notes, no filler. The citron up top isn't the loud, sweet bergamot you find in most men's citrus opens. It's brighter, zestier, with a tart edge that reads distinctly citron rather than the rounded sweetness of standard citrus openings. The white lavender in the heart keeps that crispness going, aromatic without the dusty herbal weight traditional lavender carries.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are almost entirely citron, bright and slightly bitter, the kind of opening that makes you check your wrist twice because the clarity is so immediate. The lavender arrives quietly, settling in around the twenty-minute mark without ever dominating. The transition is smooth, not dramatic. By the one-hour point, the tonka bean absolute starts surfacing from beneath, and the whole thing shifts. That sharp citrus recedes, and what remains is warmer, softer, with a faint sweetness that clings close to the skin. At the three-hour mark, you're in full drydown territory: tonka-led, gently sweet, with the lavender still hanging on like a memory. The drydown lingers well into the evening on skin, and on fabric it holds on even longer, picking up a soft warmth that develops slowly throughout the day. The opening sells it.
Cultural impact
Urban Green is built around a simple idea: three notes, nothing extra, each one allowed to do its job without interference. The citron, white lavender, and tonka bean absolute are all recognizable materials, but the way they're weighted here gives the composition a clear identity. It wears close to the skin, projects moderately in the first hour, and settles into a soft tonka-led drydown that lasts well into the evening. The scent reads as clean and unfussy, the kind of fragrance that works in any season and doesn't demand attention to be appreciated.
