The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Fleur de Murier translates to "mulberry flower", and that's the literal inspiration here, the white blossoms of a bush better known for its dark fruit. Emilie Bevierre-Coppermann built this around a tension: the tartness of red currant and raspberry leaf against the softness of berry blossom and lily of the valley. The 2018 release sits in the Les Parfums Matières collection, a line that prizes material honesty over complexity.
What makes this composition interesting is how the white florals keep the berry notes from reading too sweet. Orange blossom brings a clean, almost soapy clarity that cuts through the fruit. Violet adds powdery softness without heaviness. Together, these choices create something that smells like a memory of berries rather than an artificial candy approximation, the difference between actual fruit and fruit-flavored anything.
The evolution
The red currant opens bright, almost tart, clean in a way that feels intentional rather than sharp. Raspberry leaf adds a green, slightly bitter undertone. Then the white florals arrive: orange blossom first, then violet and lily of the valley. The transition is smooth. No jarring handoff. The heart settles into something powdery and feminine, intimate without being heavy. By the drydown, sandalwood and musk take over, with vanilla and amber adding warmth. The berry note doesn't disappear, it lingers, softened, turned inward. On skin, expect moderate sillage that stays close. The fragrance has built a loyal following among enthusiasts who appreciate its understated charm and consistent character.
Cultural impact
Fleur de Murier has found its audience among wearers who value discretion over drama. Community reviews praise its value, consistently rated above 7.5 for cost-to-quality ratio. The fruity-floral profile reads as nostalgic to some, comforting to others. Spring and fall see the most wear, with the berry and floral notes complementing cooler transitional weather. The moderate sillage makes it office-appropriate, present without imposing. Not a statement fragrance. Something quieter.
