The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Aurélien Guichard and Leonardo Lucheze built Joop! Homme Eau de Parfum Intense on one principle: skip the introduction. Where most flankers soften the original, this one intensifies, going straight for the heart of what makes Joop! Homme unmistakable. Rose leads, not jasmine or heliotrope. Tonka bean anchors, not the familiar almond-anise opening. The 2025 release strips the signature down to three materials and lets each one work at full volume. It's Joop! without apology, the way the brand has always preferred it.
Rose, tonka bean, geranium. A pyramid this lean is a statement, fewer materials means nowhere to hide. The tonka bean's vanillic sweetness could soften anything it touches. In this composition, it doesn't. The warm, slightly bitter almond facets push against the rose instead of cushioning it, keeping the floral from going powdery too early. Geranium bridges the two: its green, camphorated character gives the heart a herbal tension that prevents the whole thing from sliding into sweetness. It's a tight three-way conversation, and nobody backs down.
The evolution
The rose announces itself immediately, bold, warm, unapologetic. No gentle citrus preamble. Within minutes, geranium shifts the conversation, bringing a green, slightly medicinal edge that cuts through the sweetness before it can settle. The transition isn't gradual. It arrives. Then the tonka bean takes over, wrapping everything in warm vanilla and subtle almond that coats the mouth of the throat. The projection doesn't fade quietly. Eight to ten hours isn't a promise from the brand, it's what the tonka does. On the wrist the next morning, a faint sweet warmth remains. This one doesn't leave unobtrusively.
Cultural impact
Joop! Homme Eau de Parfum Intense continues the house's tradition of fearless compositions, appealing to the man who wants a fragrance that announces rather than asks. The 2025 release translates the Joop! DNA into a modern structure, rose-forward, tonka-warmed, and built for strong projection that lasts.
