The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Carmita Magalhães designed Brille Mais, building a fragrance that moves from bright fruit to something softer, more intimate. The four-fruit top, pear, apricot, litchi, bergamot, gives it an immediate, sunlit quality. Pear brings crispness, while apricot and litchi add layers of sweetness that feel juicy without being heavy. Bergamot lifts the opening with a clean citrus edge that keeps the fruit from weighing down the composition. The floral heart grounds that brightness in something familiar, weaving creamy notes through the heart that add body without overwhelming. The vanilla and white musk in the base ensure it settles close, becoming something personal rather than performative. White musk adds a clean, soft finish that makes the drydown feel like a second skin.
The powdery accord appears as the composition transitions, serving as a bridge between the juicy top and the warm base. Jasmine and ylang-ylang carry enough creaminess to smooth the progression between phases without muddying the scent profile. Patchouli in the base provides just enough earth to keep the vanilla from becoming flat. The composition executes a familiar olfactory arc with attention to balance and structure.
The evolution
The opening arrives with pear and bergamot together, crisp and immediate, while apricot and litchi sweeten the picture within moments. The brightness of the top notes eventually gives way as the florals emerge. Jasmine and rose layer rather than compete, jasmine's creamy quality softening rose's sharper edges. The powdery quality builds underneath, a gentle warmth that becomes more prominent as the scent develops. The vanilla eventually becomes more noticeable, not an overwhelming vanilla presence but a restrained note that feels familiar. White musk keeps the scent close to the skin. Sandalwood adds creaminess to the base. The patchouli is subtle, enough to ground everything without announcing itself.
Cultural impact
Brille Mais launched as part of Jequiti's collection, featuring a powdery-floral-vanilla structure. The use of tropical fruit in the top notes gives it a character distinct to its Brazilian origins. The composition balances accessibility with a profile that feels familiar and comfortable, avoiding extreme positioning in either direction.
