The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sorbet Berries landed in 2021 as part of Jeanne Arthes' Skil: Sky Is The Limit collection, and the composition leans hard into a particular duality. It takes the technical scaffolding of a structured floral gourmand and dresses it in the language of a fruit stand at peak summer. The opening arrives almost carbonated, with passion fruit and blackcurrant hitting together in a sharp, bright burst, while coconut slides in quickly underneath like the foam on a blended drink. From there the scent evolves rather than simply fades, moving through raspberry softened by frangipani and jasmine into a warmer base of cooked pineapple and vanilla.
What's interesting here is the placement of pineapple in the base. Most fruity gourmands lean on raspberry or strawberry alone for their sweetness, then bury everything under vanilla. Sorbet Berries keeps pineapple as a structural note, which gives the drydown a tropical tartness that keeps the vanilla from collapsing into straight dessert. The frangipani in the heart does quiet work too, adding a creamy white-floral softness that bridges the berry opening and the vanilla close without ever announcing itself as a dominant flower. It's a composition that reads simple on paper and behaves with more discipline on skin.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are sharp and bright. Passion fruit and blackcurrant hit together, almost carbonated, with the coconut arriving quickly underneath like the foam on a blended drink. There's no mistaking the opening for anything but fruit, and a generous amount of it. The acidity is high at this stage, more like biting into chilled berries than sipping syrup, and the coconut does its work as a softener rather than a star. Around the thirty-minute mark, the raspberry rounds the edges. Frangipani and jasmine tuck in behind it, adding a soft floral hum that most people won't identify by name but will feel as a shift from sharp to plush. The white florals here are creamy rather than indolic, almost lactonic, which keeps the fruit conversation going instead of interrupting it.
Cultural impact
Sorbet Berries sits within Jeanne Arthes' Skil: Sky Is The Limit collection, a grouping of contemporary releases centered on fruity and gourmand territory. The scent itself leans into sweetness without apology, built around passion fruit, blackcurrant, raspberry, and coconut in the upper layers, with frangipani, jasmine, pineapple, and vanilla rounding out the composition. Its profile makes it a natural fit for warm weather and casual wear, when the appetite for heavy orientals tends to fade and something juicier feels right on the skin.
