Clary sage arrives in the heart and keeps the green quality alive through the middle stages. Black rose and tobacco share the middle stage, but tobacco does the heavy lifting while rose adds depth rather than sweetness. The result is a heart that reads as earthy and warm without tipping into sweetness, which is the whole Slytherin point. Ambition dressed in something darker than florals.

The evolution

The opening lands bright and immediate, grapefruit and bergamot with cardamom's spice cutting through the citrus. The clary sage arrives within minutes, adding a cool, herbal counterpoint that stops the citrus from ever feeling sunny. By the thirty-minute mark, the tobacco is already establishing itself as the dominant voice, with black rose threading through in the background, dark rather than sweet. Two hours in, patchouli takes over the drydown, pulling everything toward earth and warmth. The sandalwood and musk settle close to the skin, projecting moderately but lasting long. The day after, there's still a faint trace of patchouli and sandalwood on unwashed fabric, intimate and close rather than announcing itself.
