The beginning
Délicieusement Sensuelle arrived in 2023 from Harold & Maude, with Nejla Barbir listed as the perfumer. Her brief here seems clear: build a floral-oriental that doesn't flinch. The brand describes it as 'a carnal, addictive perfume to be worn on the skin,' and that's not marketing poetry. It's an instruction. Four white flowers open the door (Turkish rose, Egyptian jasmine, orange blossom, Indian tuberose), then cinnamon and saffron turn up the temperature before frankincense pulls everything into shadow. The result is dense, warm, and built to sit close. Barbir's composition wastes no time establishing its intent. The opening hits with a saturated floral wall that feels almost sculptural in its density, each petal visible in the arrangement.
What's worth noting here is the layering of four full-throated white florals in the opening. Harold & Maude chose all four, and they aren't competing. They're conspiring. The evolution

More about texture than flavor, a dry, leathery warmth that changes how the flowers read. Around the two-hour mark, the fragrance shifts again. The flowers aren't gone, but they've receded. The frankincense makes its move now, dark and resinous, slightly smoky, and it pulls the composition into shadow.
