The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Beyond Me arrived in 2026 as part of Gissah's Signature Collection. Each release in their catalogue reads as a chapter in an evolving olfactory anthology, and this one leans gourmand. The brief was simple: take the spices the Gulf does best and tuck them into something warmer, sweeter, more velvet than smoke. Cardamom, pink pepper, and saffron lead the opening, each one offering a slightly different facet. Cardamom brings the soft, green sweetness. Pink pepper contributes a gentle sparkle, more floral than sharp. Saffron lends its leathery, almost bitter warmth, giving the top notes a savory edge rather than a purely sweet one. Coffee, caramel, and coconut milk hold the middle.
What makes the structure interesting is the tension between the top and the heart. Here, the transition goes through coffee and coconut milk, which gives the caramel a roasted, almost savory backbone instead of the usual confectionery sugar hit. The coffee reads less like a beverage and more like a charred almond bitterness, the kind of dark edge that caramelized sugar gets when it's just beginning to burn. The coconut milk acts as a softener, a creamy curve laid across those roasted notes so the whole heart feels round rather than sharp.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all sparkle. Cardamom and pink pepper snap, and the saffron sits right behind them with a slightly metallic edge, almost like the smell of warming a pan before anything goes in. By the half-hour mark, the coffee and caramel have arrived, and the whole composition tilts toward the creamy middle. The coconut milk softens everything without flattening it. It reads warm, almost edible, but the spices are still audible underneath, which keeps it from going too sweet. Around the three-hour mark, the sandalwood and labdanum take over. The coffee retreats but doesn't disappear. What you're left with is something close to skin-warm wood with a ghost of pepper still clinging to your collar. Eight hours later, a soft amber-woody trace is still detectable if you press your nose to where you sprayed.
Cultural impact
Beyond Me fits Gissah's broader identity as a house that treats fragrance as autobiography, but it marks a warmer, sweeter chapter in the anthology. The gourmand heart places it in a space where spice and sugar meet, while the coffee-coconut routing keeps it distinct from anything that feels purely traditional. This is a fragrance for the person who wants their collection to include something dessert-leaning, something comfortable and enveloping without losing aromatic sophistication.
