The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Honore Delights arrived in 2020 as part of Ex Nihilo's Les Interdites line, a collection built around Paris's talent for reimagining the familiar. Perfumer Nathalie Gracia-Cetto approached the composition like a pastry chef, breaking down classical fragrance ingredients and reassembling them into something new.
Ambrette was chosen to replace heavier animalic notes, giving the heart a natural muskiness that evolves against the skin rather than sitting static. Iris brings the powdery backbone while orange blossom keeps the mid-section from becoming too detached. In the base, sandalwood and cedarwood work together to anchor the florals, ensuring the drydown has weight without heaviness.
The evolution
The fragrance opens on skin with bergamot and neroli, two materials that balance each other cleanly. Bergamot provides the initial spark while neroli adds a honeyed floral softness that follows immediately. The heart phase introduces ambrette, whose musky, almost seed-like quality grounds the powdered elegance of iris and the bright green florals of orange blossom. By the drydown, sandalwood and musk create a warm skin feel that lingers quietly while cedarwood provides a subtle woody counterweight.
Cultural impact
Since joining the Les Interdites collection, Honoré Delights quickly became a reference point for modern gourmand fragrances that avoid overt sweetness. Wearers often describe it as the scent of a refined Parisian pâtisserie after hours, a subtle yet memorable statement that sets it apart from more sugary counterparts. Its balanced powder‑citrus‑woody profile has earned a steady following among those who appreciate a sophisticated, understated gourmand twist.
