The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dossier launched Fruity Vanilla in 2026, and the brief reads simple on paper: build a gourmand that doesn't collapse under its own sweetness. The house set out to create a composition that leads with fruit and finishes in warm, creamy territory, a structure that reads as approachable without being forgettable. The concept leans on a tension between indulgence and ease, and the whole composition feels designed around that balance. Fruity Vanilla targets the Dossier customer who wants something dessert-leaning but still wearable past the first hour. The fruit top, floral heart, and gourmand base give it just enough complexity to feel considered, not just sweet.
What makes this composition work is the handoff between phases. The mandarin, pear, and ginger open with a brightness that does real work, cutting through what could otherwise read as a straightforward vanilla-caramel scent. The lavender in the heart is the surprise ingredient. It's not loud, but it adds an aromatic, slightly herbal counterweight to the peach and jasmine, keeping the middle phase from turning syrupy. The base of vanilla, caramel, and tonka bean is where the comfort lives, warm and soft without crossing into cloying territory.
The evolution
The opening belongs to the fruit. Pear hits sweet and juicy, mandarin adds zest, and the ginger threads through with a clean, almost sparkling heat. This is the brightest the fragrance gets, and it fades faster than the rest. As the composition moves forward, the peach and jasmine take over, and the lavender starts doing its quiet work in the background, adding an herbaceous softness that keeps the florals grounded. The vanilla and caramel arrive as the scent settles, warming up everything that came before. The tonka bean in the base adds a soft depth that prevents the drydown from reading as one-note. What lingers is mostly the vanilla and tonka, soft and warm against the skin, a trace of sweetness that stays close rather than projecting.
Cultural impact
Fruity Vanilla sits in the crowded gourmand lane, and its pear-and-ginger opening gives it a freshness that shapes how it reads on skin. Wearers describe it as an everyday, signature-style scent, easy to reach for without overthinking. The composition leans into a warmth that reads as approachable rather than heavy, making it a practical choice for someone who wants dessert-leaning character without the weight of something more intense. The fruit-forward opening and creamy base give it a balance that lets it function across different moments, from casual daytime wear to softer evening settings, without demanding attention.
