The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The One Eau de Parfum Intense arrives in 2025 as a new expression under an established name. The campaign brings together Madonna and Alberto Guerra, photographed by Mert Alaş, capturing a presence that feels bold and assured. The imagery carries a sense of directness and confidence, the kind that doesn't invite debate. From the first frame, this edition establishes its own character within the line, speaking clearly and without hesitation.
The note structure is deliberately split across two worlds. Pink pepper and a burst of blackcurrant-mandarin create the opening, bright, tart, almost effervescent. This isn't the fruit of a morning market or a summer cocktail. It reads like something lit. Then jasmine arrives to anchor the composition and holds it there. Vanilla and amber don't arrive to soften the jasmine, they arrive to deepen it. The combination of blackcurrant and jasmine, when done right, reads as rosy-peach even in the absence of actual peach. That creative misdirection is part of what makes the composition interesting.
The evolution
The opening hits first, pink pepper's clean heat setting off a tart burst of blackcurrant and mandarin. Fruity-bright and multi-dimensional. Mandarin retreats first, leaving blackcurrant and pink pepper to hold the top as jasmine steps forward. The transition is graceful rather than sudden. Jasmine takes hold at the heart, lush and present, carrying the fragrance alone for the next several hours. There's a creamy-peach impression in the drydown that users consistently report, not because peach is in the formula, but because blackcurrant and jasmine together read that way. The base arrives slowly, amber-vanilla wrapping around what remains of the jasmine. What follows is a warm, lingering drydown that stays intimate close to the skin but refuses to fully disappear. Tested on fabric the following day, the amber-vanilla presence is still detectable.
Cultural impact
D&G fragrances have always sat at the intersection of fashion and lifestyle, pieces worn by people who want their scent to say something. The One line occupies a warm, romantic space within the brand's portfolio, with flankers adding richness and depth without straying from the core identity. The 2025 Intense represents a shift in approach, trading some of the earlier softness for something with more sparkle and intention. The campaign, with Madonna, signals that this edition is aimed at someone who already knows what she wants.
