The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Truth No.1 launched in 2023 as part of Daniel's Truth's Hand Perfume line, a collection designed to move beyond traditional spray formats into something more tactile. The formula uses kosher-certified vegetable alcohol as its base, with propolis and vitamin C added for a skincare-adjacent angle. Intended for use on hands and hair, it treats fragrance as a daily ritual rather than a finished product. The brand calls it 'a sultry blend of night blooming Jasmine' joining with orange flower, citrus, and tropical passionfruit.
What sets the composition apart is how it balances tropical brightness with a powdery floral heart. Passionfruit and citrus give the opening a sharp, juicy lift, but the core stays grounded in white florals. Jasmine, orchid, peony, and lily of the valley stack into a creamy, slightly soapy accord that reads more sunscreen-and-skin than bouquet. The base pulls warm with woody notes, amber, and vanilla, which rounds out the sweetness without weighing it down. An accessible fruity-floral that doesn't lean syrupy.
The evolution
The opening is all about the passionfruit and citrus, loud and tropical, almost like biting into cold fruit on a hot afternoon. Orange blossom softens the edges before jasmine takes the wheel. The heart phase settles into a powdery white floral cloud. Peony and orchid give it body, lily of the valley adds that clean, green-soap quality. No single flower dominates. It wears as a soft blur of all four. As the hours pass, the base starts to surface. Vanilla and amber warm up underneath, adding a faint creaminess that keeps the powdery florals from feeling cold. The woody notes stay quiet, more texture than flavor. On hair, the oil base tends to hold a bit longer, and the late drydown leans into a soft vanilla close that hovers just above the skin.
Cultural impact
Truth No.1 fits Daniel's Truth's catalog as an accessible fruity-floral entry point, the kind of soft, crowd-pleasing composition that complements the brand's emphasis on approachable, oil-based perfumery. The fragrance reads as an easy, wearable piece that suits a wide range of settings and seasons, with its tropical-fruity opening and powdery floral heart making it feel friendly without being generic. Within the brand's lineup, it functions as a softer, brighter option that contrasts with the denser, more resinous and animalic profiles elsewhere in the range.
