Heritage
A house, in its own words
Daniel's Truth was founded in 2021 by Daniel Mackenzie, a fragrance creative who began by teaching friends and visitors the basics of scent construction before moving into product design. The brand first operated out of Buena Park, California, later opening a second location in Fullerton. Early momentum came not from traditional retail but from in-person perfume-blending workshops, where guests learned note families, built personal accords, and left with a signed bottle. That community-first model helped the brand build a following that stretched across the Pacific, and Daniel's Truth products, particularly their hotel-style diffusers, found an audience in South Korea. A March 2024 Voyage LA profile noted that the company had grown into an LA-based label with cross-continental reach, still centered on natural essential oils and small-batch methods. The studio continues to serve as both retail space and creative classroom, anchoring the brand identity in hands-on fragrance education. Where most fragrance houses sell finished bottles, Daniel's Truth opens the formula. The brand treats scent-making as a participatory craft, inviting customers to understand raw materials, sample accords, and ultimately compose their own perfume under guidance. This educational instinct runs through everything they release, from named editions like Angela 316 and Michelle 322, which carry the personal signatures of real people, to the workshop format that turns a typical retail visit into a creative session. The philosophy leans on accessibility without sacrificing intent: compositions are layered enough to reward attention, yet built to be approachable for someone smelling their first oud or rose absolute. California informs the mood, open, sun-warmed, unhurried, while the Korean fan base shapes a sensibility that values subtlety, skin-friendly oil formats, and diffusers designed for shared spaces rather than statement walls.
