Heritage
A house, in its own words
Forever Florals traces its history to Liana of Waikiki, a Hawaii-founded fragrance business acquired by Trade West in 1976. Trade West subsequently repackaged the product and rebuilt its fragrance line, establishing the foundation for the Forever Florals name and collection. The story later became linked with David Langer, who described himself as an ambassador for Hawaii's flowers in an interview about the brand's floral identity. By the 2000s, Forever Florals had developed a catalog of Hawaii-inspired fragrances, including Gardenia, Passion Pineapple, and Plumeria. The products place familiar island botanicals and fruits at the center of their compositions. Passion Pineapple combines passion fruit and passion flower with fresh pineapple, while Plumeria is framed as a floral-amber scent with frangipani and patchouli notes. Heavenly Leilani and North Shore later joined the recognizable collection, extending its floral and tropical range. The company's Honolulu base and continued connection to Trade West provide a distinctly Hawaiian lineage. Its history is less a tale of formal perfumery milestones than of translating local flowers, fruit, and the atmosphere of Hawaiian retail into scents that can be carried beyond the islands. Forever Florals approaches perfumery through the flowers and fruits associated with Hawaii. Its compositions begin with an immediate point of reference, such as pineapple, frangipani, gardenia, or lilac, then build a scent around that identity. This approach makes the collection feel connected to a specific landscape rather than to an abstract tropical theme. The brand's own product language describes its fragrances as ways to keep a piece of paradise close, but the more revealing detail lies in its ingredient choices. Passion Pineapple pairs island fruit with passion flower, Plumeria centers a flower closely associated with Hawaii, and Gardenia draws on another familiar island bloom. The philosophy also extends beyond perfume into bath and body products, allowing the same scent stories to enter different parts of a daily routine. Forever Florals does not foreground a named perfumer or a highly technical olfactory doctrine in the available record. Its creative proposition is direct and accessible: identify a characteristic Hawaiian flower or fruit, give it a polished fragrance treatment, and preserve the emotional memory of the islands in a wearable form.
