The structure reflects that intent. The opening trio of Italian lemon, mandarin, and orange is a deliberate jolt, unapologetic citrus that announces presence without demanding attention. The heart uses Provençal lavender and clary sage to do something clever: they cool the composition from within, creating the sensation of freshness that doesn't burn off. Petitgrain bridges the top and heart, adding a slightly bitter, green undertone that keeps the lavender from going lavender-scented-room. The base is where Discover earns its name, vetiver and patchouli ground the brightness into something that lasts, something that settles, something worth finding.

The evolution

The opening is quick and bright. Lemon and mandarin arrive together, Mandarin slightly sweeter, Lemon slightly sharper, within thirty seconds the Orange catches up and the three begin to blur into a single citrus accord that reads as optimism more than any individual note. This phase lasts roughly forty-five minutes before the heart starts to take over. The handoff is where Discover reveals its personality. Instead of the citrus fading cleanly, the lavender pushes through, cool, slightly camphorated, the smell of something herbal and Mediterranean. Clary sage softens the edges. Petitgrain adds a green-bitter undertone that keeps the heart from becoming too soft. This is the phase that separates Discover from a standard freshie. It lasts two to three hours. The drydown belongs to the vetiver. Earthy, slightly smoky, with patchouli adding a dark green weight that grounds everything. The citrus never fully disappears, it sits underneath like a memory of the opening. On some skin, this phase can stretch to six hours. On others, it fades closer to four.
