The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Miroir Magique was conceived as a study in transformation, perfumer Hamid Merati-Kashani building a fragrance around the idea of the mirror, that object in fairy tales that shows you something you didn't expect. The name itself carries weight: magic mirror, not just any reflection. What it reflects changes. What it reflects back is warmer, sweeter, more powdery than where it started. Corniche d'Or carries this concept into scent, the idea that you put on something fresh in the morning and by evening, you've become something else entirely. Not a different person. A version of yourself the room doesn't see coming. The transformation unfolds gradually, starting with crisp citrus and herbal accents that give way to a soft, enveloping warmth.
The composition earns its name through its structure, the opening doesn't predict the drydown. Bergamot and cypress give the top a clean, almost aromatic brightness, but peach softens the edges from the start. The magic isn't in any single note; it's in how jasmine, lily of the valley, and violet create a bridge that doesn't fight the warmth arriving in the base. Praline is what sets this apart from the pack of warm-sweet fragrances. It's sweet, but praline has weight. It remembers it's a nut. Vanilla and musk keep it grounded after, preventing the whole thing from floating away into pure dessert.
The evolution
The opening announces itself clearly: bergamot's citrus brightness, cypress adding an herbal sharpness, peach giving softness without sweetness. The interplay between citrus and herb creates an immediate impression that feels both invigorating and grounded. Jasmine and lily of the valley don't compete with the top, they extend it, adding a powdery dimension that feels intentional rather than accidental. Violet sits quietly in the background, providing a soft violet-floral quality that bridges the heart to the base. The florals bring a delicate sweetness that weaves through the composition, creating layers of scent that unfold naturally. As the initial brightness begins to soften, warm spices arrive, settling into the composition rather than announcing themselves. Amber, vanilla, praline combine to create a rich, comforting foundation.
Cultural impact
Miroir Magique enters the niche perfumery landscape with a distinctive approach to warmth and powdery florals. Its combination of praline and vanilla within a musk-amber framework creates something that feels both comforting and sophisticated. The inclusion of cypress adds an herbal, aromatic dimension that distinguishes the composition from more straightforward sweet orientals. This woody, slightly resinous note provides contrast against the sweeter elements, creating balance and preventing the fragrance from becoming one-dimensional. The musk-amber base grounds the sweeter top notes, giving the fragrance substance and longevity on the skin.
