The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Oud Supreme arrived in 2025 as Bond No. 9's statement on what a New York oud could be. Perfumer Miroslav Petkov built it around a specific tension: the city's electric brightness against the depth of resinous woods. Spanish lemon and blackcurrant open like a fall afternoon in Manhattan, crisp, charged, alive. Turkish rose anchors the heart, chosen specifically for its boldness. The result is a fragrance that refuses to disappear.
What makes Oud Supreme structurally interesting is how it refuses the typical oud playbook. Rather than leading with the wood, it opens with fruit, tart, bright, almost startling, then lets rose do the heavy lifting before the oud finally arrives. The carrot seed and geranium in the heart add a green, slightly earthy quality that keeps the florals from feeling decorative. The Gurjum balsam and Sumatran benzoin in the base don't just support the oud, they give it warmth and a faint sweetness that extends the drydown well past where most oud fragrances fold. It's a composition built for structure, not spectacle.
The evolution
The opening hits immediately: blackcurrant and Spanish lemon create an effervescent tartness that feels nothing like the oud lurking beneath. Pink pepper adds a delicate prickle, present but never aggressive. Within twenty minutes, the cassis softens and the Turkish rose takes over, bigger than expected, almost theatrical against the green undertones of geranium and carrot seed. The frankincense is quiet here, more atmospheric than declarative. By the second hour, the oud arrives, not the harsh, medicinal kind, but a warm, resinous wood that blends with patchouli and benzoin into something that smells expensive and stays close. On fabric, the drydown persists into the next morning.
Cultural impact
Bond No. 9 has spent over two decades building a fragrance house that belongs to New York as surely as any landmark. Oud Supreme fits into that portfolio as the house's boldest oud statement, a fragrance for people who want the city's energy condensed into something wearable and lasting. It joins a roster that includes New York Oud and New Haarlem, but pushes further into opulence and structure.
