Courageux

The composition stacks two tobacco expressions against a layered gourmand base. Tobacco leaf in the opening and tobacco flower in the heart, flanked by honey and osmanthus above, then cocoa, labdanum, and tonka bean below. That layering creates contrast at every stage: the bright spice of the opening sits against the darker resinous materials waiting beneath it. The osmanthus contributes a recognizable sweetness that softens the honey's edge and keeps the early drydown from collapsing into pure sugar.

The evolution

Cinnamon heat hits first, honey slides underneath, and tobacco leaf adds its dry character to the opening. Osmanthus arrives late in the opening with a warm sweetness, less like fruit and more like warm skin against fabric. As the composition moves into its heart phase, the spices settle and the resins begin to show. Cocoa, benzoin, labdanum, and tonka bean arrive in close succession, building an amber-honey accord that thickens the air around the wearer. The tobacco flower surfaces here, lighter and more floral than the leaf, with a softer, almost dried-fruit quality. The later stages see the composition compress into something quieter but more unified. Patchouli and musk hold the base while the dried fruits contribute a dark sweetness underneath. The drydown runs warm and resinous, settling into a close-skin amber-tobacco that holds its shape through the evening.
