The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Strawberries Crave Botanicus arrived in 2015 as part of Arcana Craves. The naming convention was already the brand's signature: place a familiar object on one side, a sensory destination on the other, and let the verb "craves" do the emotional work. Botanicus was the strawberry entry in that catalog. Not the strawberry of Strawberries Crave Ice Cream or the strawberry of Strawberries Crave Pie. This one wanted the patch. The garden before the bowl. What happens when you take the fruit everyone thinks they know and drop it into a tangle of galbanum, basil, hemp, and guava, then let it ripen there. Each release read like a short story in bottle form, and Botanicus read like the chapter where the sweetness goes feral.
Arcana's approach here is stranger than a typical fruit-forward blend: guava brings a fleshy, slightly funky tropical weight that pushes the strawberry off its usual dessert track, while galbanum contributes a green, almost bitter snap that anchors the opening in something sharp and resinous. Cannabis and hemp add a leafy, dry warmth that reads like sun on garden soil rather than anything smoky or indolic. The result is a fruit accord that behaves like a botanical.
The evolution
The first spray hits with strawberry and red grapefruit, bright and almost candied, then the galbanum snaps into place fast. Within minutes the green deepens. Cannabis and hemp settle in alongside basil, and the composition tips from fruity toward something herbaceous and slightly resinous. Guava blooms in the heart, fleshy and warm, pulling the strawberry away from its dessert associations and into something closer to sun-warmed skin. Jonquil and blood orange keep the lift going before fading around the 2-hour mark. By hour three you're in the drydown, and it's quieter than expected. Cannabis, hemp, and the residual green of galbanum cling to skin. What lasts is the leafy, slightly dry herbal finish, close to the body, readable mostly when you move your wrist.
Cultural impact
Strawberries Crave Botanicus takes the strawberry note and pushes it toward garden and herb rather than chasing the dessert register, landing closer to a living plant than a confection. The guava, galbanum, basil, and cannabis notes pull the fruit into a different category entirely, one where sweetness becomes a secondary character rather than the lead. Within the Strawberries Crave series itself, Botanicus stands out as the entry most willing to break with expectations.
