The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Amore & Psiche takes its name from one of antiquity's most enduring love stories, Psyche, the mortal princess whose beauty stirred jealousy among the gods, and Cupid, the divine striker of hearts. Their tale, preserved in Apuleius's The Golden Ass, unfolds across misunderstanding, separation, and ultimate reunion in immortal bliss. It is a story about the awakening of desire, the vulnerability of the soul, and what it means to be transformed by love. Enzo Galardi built Amore & Psiche around that moment of transformation. The fragrance moves from luminous opening to opulent heart to warm, intimate close. The opening sparkles with bright citrus and green notes before the rich white florals take hold, building toward a base that settles into soft warmth against the skin.
The true test of any white floral fragrance is the balance between heady and overwhelming. Galardi meets this challenge with Pittosporum, a note that brings green, slightly bitter character to the solar florals. Where most white floral compositions risk becoming static in their richness, this one has movement. The interplay between the heady gardenia and jasmine and the fresher, greener elements keeps the heart from feeling heavy or one-dimensional. The base, Musk, Vanilla, and White Amber, does the quiet work.
The evolution
Bergamot opens first. Bright, sharp. Within minutes, orange blossom joins, honeyed but green, not yet sweet. The Pittosporum adds an unexpected bitter-green note, like crushing a leaf between your fingers. The top phase evolves quickly before the florals take over. The heart is where this fragrance earns its name. Gardenia and jasmine bloom simultaneously, followed closely by tuberose. The effect is not layered, it is simultaneous, a wall of white petals with no beginning and no end. Tuberose adds a slightly animalic edge that keeps the florals from reading as purely innocent. The drydown is intimacy itself. Vanilla and Musk create a warm, close skin-scent, barely there, but impossible to ignore if you lean in. White Amber keeps the base from becoming saccharine. There is something quietly confident about a fragrance that simply refuses to be subtle.
Cultural impact
Amore & Psiche brings something distinctive to white floral compositions. The gardenia and jasmine heart is opulent, full-bodied, slightly animalic, unapologetically lush. No cool detachment here, just warmth and presence. Yet the composition stays close, personal, almost shy. The audience is specific: those who want to smell like flowers without announcing their arrival. The white floral accord is full-bodied, slightly animalic, unapologetically lush. No cool detachment here, just warmth and presence. Musk and vanilla create a skin-close warmth that the florals cannot survive. White Amber lifts the base into something airy.
