The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Meditation arrived in 2022 as part of the Rituals of Anfar collection, a name chosen deliberately. The perfumer Ahmedullah Anfar designed this fragrance as an exercise in restraint, stripping away complexity to focus on what matters: the interplay between cool herbs, lush florals, and a warm, grounded base. The brand's philosophy, that a fragrance should be both a memory trigger and a functional accessory, lives in this bottle. It doesn't demand attention. It earns it.
The note structure is unusually cohesive for an oriental floral. White florals often arrive loud and stay loud. Here, tuberose and jasmine are woven with ylang-ylang, then grounded by amber and musk, creating a heart that's rich without overwhelming. The clary sage and pink pepper at the opening keep things bright and clear, while the patchouli in the base adds just enough earth to keep the florals from floating away. It's a meditation in the compositional sense: still, focused, deliberate.
The evolution
The opening is clean and clear, pink pepper's spark meets clary sage's herbal cool, with a soft fruity undertone. Within the first hour, the white florals take over. Tuberose leads, jasmine follows, ylang-ylang threads through like warm breath. The heart is where Meditation earns its name, lush but composed. By the third hour, the drydown arrives. Amber and musk wrap around patchouli's earth. The sillage becomes intimate. On most skin, this lasts a full workday, then lingers quietly into the evening, close to the skin, not announced.
Cultural impact
Meditation occupies a quiet corner of the niche fragrance landscape. It's neither a statement piece nor a background scent, it's designed to accompany, not announce. Among Anfar's catalogue (Retro Wood, Ashy Wood, Azure Spirit), this one appeals to wearers who want richness without drama, florals without screaming. The 2022 release fits a moment when more people are seeking composure in their fragrance choices, the opposite of performative scent.
