The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mi Acorde Él is Alejandro Sanz's chord translated into scent. The collaboration with perfumer Lucas Sieuzac produced the 2019 launch, and the result is a fragrance that doesn't ask permission. It's named for harmony. It wears like confidence. The opening arrives with bright pineapple, tart and golden, before settling into warmer territory, suede, amber, and a whisper of moss that keeps the drydown grounded rather than airy. The whole composition unfolds without announcing itself, a quiet statement rather than a shout.
The structure is interesting: tropical fruit meets aromatic juniper, then anchors to suede and moss. Three different families talking to each other, and somehow they don't argue. The tonka bean is the diplomat, sweet enough to smooth the edges, dry enough to keep things interesting. It's a composition built on contrast that actually holds together.
The evolution
The opening announces itself with the pineapple, golden, slightly tart, unmistakably present. Apple follows, adding crunch. Cardamom threads through, a spice that keeps the sweetness from getting soft. As the top notes begin to settle, juniper steps forward, green and cool against the warmth building underneath. The tonka bean arrives to wrap everything in a powdery sweetness that balances the aromatic sharpness. By the time the drydown settles, the suede emerges, soft, warm, slightly animal, with amber holding it all together. Moss lingers in the background, adding an earthy whisper that keeps the drydown from feeling too clean. The progression between phases feels smooth, each note passing the spotlight without abrupt changes, and on fabric the sillage remains noticeable throughout the wear.
Cultural impact
Mi Acorde Él arrived in 2019 as part of a musician's vision for translating sound into smell. The fragrance occupies a particular space: sweet enough to attract attention, warm enough to hold it, and grounded enough to feel personal rather than performative. Its golden pineapple opening makes an immediate impression, tart and bright, before softening into the warmth of suede and amber. The combination feels like confidence without arrogance, presence without intrusion.
