The beginning
Al Wataniah launched in the UAE in 2019 with a philosophy of expressing cultural identity through fragrance, drawing from regional olfactory traditions, particularly oud and oriental accords, but interpreting them through modern composition. The house has consistently explored how Arabian perfumery heritage can translate into contemporary daily wear. Lazuli arrived in 2020 as part of the Eternal collection, designed for consistent use rather than special occasions. The brand's approach emphasizes accessibility and versatility, and Lazuli reflects this by starting with universally appealing citrus and herbal notes before revealing its more complex character.
The note selection in Lazuli reflects a deliberate bridge between traditions. The opening uses citrus and herbs that will feel familiar to those accustomed to European aromatic fragrances, while the heart draws from ingredients central to Arabian perfumery, particularly orange blossom and neroli, which appear frequently in regional compositions. The drydown, anchored in amber and ambrette, introduces warmth that aligns with oriental preferences without overwhelming. The evolution
