The beginning
Sur Le Lac arrived in 2026 from Aetherii Fragrance, a house whose earlier work includes Figue Nue, Sticky Rice, Matcha Matcha, Strawberry in the Sun, Ghost Vapor, and Tobacconist. Each release is a self-contained piece of work, and Sur Le Lac continues that thread. The name is French for "on the lake," and the fragrance holds to that premise closely. It reads green-edged, sun-bleached, slightly humid, a still body of water in scent form. Bergamot and green mandarin open cold and bright at the top, layered with rosemary and Dalmatian sage, before jasmine, geranium, and petitgrain sur fleurs carry the heart. The base settles into dock moss and American cedar, giving the composition its damp, earthy, sun-warmed foundation.
What makes Sur Le Lac interesting is the herbal restraint at the top. Rosemary, Dalmatian sage, and green mandarin is not a shy combination. It's bright, green, and aromatic, with the herbs reading almost medicinal in their clarity. The aquatic notes that follow don't compete with that opening. They soften it.
