The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Itinerario IV (Pesca e Neroli) lands as the fourth stop in Acqua del Garda's 2015 olfactory mapping of northern Italy. Where the earlier Itinerario compositions exist as numbered entries in the line, this one tilts decisively toward fruit: specifically peach and neroli. The brief, as the brand frames it, was to bottle something specific to the land around them. Peach and neroli have long had a quiet presence in Italian perfumery, both tied to stretches of landscape where they grow. Itinerario IV captures that affinity, translating the feeling of ripe fruit and sunlit blossom into something you can wear on skin.
What's unusual here is the popcorn note sitting in the heart alongside peach and neroli. It's an unexpected pairing, a soft, buttery thread woven through the fruit that keeps everything from collapsing into simple sweetness. The white peach doubling in the base anchors the composition in a creamy, skin-like softness, while the violet leaf up top adds a faint green edge that lifts the top notes. This is a fruity floral that refuses to be one-dimensional, each ingredient pulling the others into slightly unexpected places.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are bright and almost fizzy. Tangerine zests the air, strawberry adds a jammy lift, and violet leaf cuts through with a cool, slightly bitter green. There's a candied quality, but it never tips into confectionery. By the thirty-minute mark, the neroli arrives: a clean, sunlit floral that smells less like orange blossom and more like the white part of an orange peel, dewy and alive. The popcorn emerges almost at the same time, doing something strange and wonderful, a warm, buttery softness that rounds the fruit without overwhelming it. Through hours two and three, peach dominates. Not a sharp stone fruit but something riper, fuzzier, almost sun-warmed. Around hour four, the white peach in the base takes over, layering creaminess over the musk that's been quietly building underneath. The patchouli grounds everything but stays restrained, more earth than shadow.
Cultural impact
Itinerario IV has drawn comparisons to compositions like Miss Dior Chérie, though anyone familiar with both will notice it leans warmer and less confectionery than that benchmark suggests. The fragrance reads as a summer-leaning scent, the kind that feels right when fruit is in season and the days stretch long. It's not a statement piece. It's a mood, a season, a specific kind of unhurried afternoon bottled into something wearable. For those drawn to fruity florals with a softer, less sugary edge, this one earns attention.
