    The Story of Guava blossom

Guava blossom offers a bright, green‑fruit aroma that blends fresh cut grass with a hint of ripe tropical sweetness, evoking sunrise over a rainforest canopy.

    Heritage

Indigenous peoples of the Amazon have used guava blossoms in traditional medicine and ritual incense for centuries. The flower entered Western perfumery in the early 1970s when French scent houses began experimenting with tropical notes. In 1975, the fragrance "Tropicalia" listed guava blossom absolute, marking its first commercial appearance. The 1990s saw a surge of tropical-themed perfumes that highlighted guava alongside ylang‑ylang and coconut. Today, niche brands continue to explore its bright green‑fruit character, while major houses reserve it for limited‑edition releases that celebrate exotic flora.

    Did You Know

"Guava blossoms bloom for just two weeks each year, yet a single kilogram of absolute can contain the scent of thousands of flowers, making it one of the most labor‑intensive floral extracts."

    Production

    How Guava blossom Is Made

Harvesters pick guava flowers at dawn when the petals are most fragrant. Workers sort the blossoms by hand, then chill them to preserve volatile compounds. The chilled petals enter a low‑temperature solvent extraction, usually with food‑grade hexane, which draws out the aromatic oils. After several hours the solvent is evaporated under vacuum, leaving a thick, amber‑colored absolute. Some farms also apply supercritical CO2 extraction to reduce solvent residue and improve yield. The resulting absolute is filtered, stored in dark glass bottles, and kept at 15 °C to prevent oxidation before it reaches the perfumer's lab.
