The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Inekas Solis takes its name from the Latin for 'reflection of the sun', appropriate, given its warmth. The 2024 release from UAE house Zimaya draws from the Italian tradition of afternoon indulgence: that specific hour when the gelato shop opens its doors and the light slants gold across the counter. This isn't a literal translation of pistachio gelato into fragrance. It's the memory of it, sweeter, softer, and worn close to the skin. Zimaya built this as an accessible alternative to niche gourmand compositions, proving that the language of comfort scent doesn't require a designer price tag to speak fluently.
The genius here is restraint within indulgence. Pistachio is easy to overdo, too much and it turns into industrial glue. But this composition uses ice cream as a bridge: the cold, sweet dairy note tempers the nuttiness into something that reads as actual dessert rather than a candle. Cardamom does the quiet work underneath, keeping the opening from becoming purely sweet. The heart of pear, raspberry, and peony adds freshness that most gelato-inspired fragrances skip entirely. It's that moment when the sweetness starts to melt and something cooler takes over. The base is the real commitment: marshmallow and sandalwood create warmth that outlives the initial pleasure.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are where this earns attention. The ice cream note arrives cold and clean, a sharp counterpoint to the roasted pistachio. Cardamom sits underneath like a warm hand on a cold day, present but never announcing itself. By the second hour, the florals take over: jasmine asserting itself alongside peony, the raspberry providing a fruity acid that keeps the sweetness from cloying. The pear is the quietest player, working in the background to add body rather than character. By hour four, the drydown settles. Marshmallow and sandalwood become the whole story, warm, soft, intimate. It doesn't project at this point so much as linger. The next morning, trace amounts remain on fabric, faint and sweet. Eight to ten hours is the realistic window on most skin.
Cultural impact
Inekas Solis sits in a crowded field of pistachio fragrances but carves its own space through restraint. Where Kayali's Yum Pistachio Gelato goes maximalist, this one softens the edges. Wearers describe it as the fragrance for someone who wants the comfort of gourmand without broadcasting it. The 8+ hour longevity and moderate sillage make it a reliable daily wear rather than a statement piece, and at its price point, that's exactly the point.
